A Year Ago Today...

A year and a day ago, it was a friday. I dined with my family while being large &in charge and waiting for Marlowe's arrival. 

Here we are today. In two days she will be one. 

&I can't believe how much life has changed.

Things have been hectic around here, but only in the best of ways. This week has been one of the finest ones yet. After Marlowe's birthday (on sunday) time will (or should) be more available. I can't wait to share some of my recent adventures.

Lady Pizza Date

The past few weeks have been flying by and last night was a good opportunity to meet up with my lovely friends before this crazy approaching weekend. There's not much planned for tonight or tomorrow night (there never is), but luckily hurricane Irene is no longer heading in our direction and the big birthday bash scheduled for Saturday will still be taking place. Three people turning thirty (Eric, Kristine, Cassie). There is a 65 foot blow up slip and slide, a whole pig being roasted (blegh), and of course a keg of good (not crappy) beer (not that I'll really be drinking anyway. I am sooo not a day drinker and I have a baby to take care of--- duh), swimming, and hopefully lots of sun. Sunday, Alex moves back to south Florida. Yeah, life is changing very quickly for Marlowe and I... and everything will be very different after this weekend.

Last night was just what we needed: good quality girl time. It so happens that tomorrow is Kristine's birthday, and I owe Michelle pizza... (and I'm always craving pizza anyway...) so it just made sense for all of us to meet at Pizza (obviously). It was quite a different pizza experience from before. I hadn't been there in over a month (since around the time M was figuring out how to walk)... and boy what a difference a month makes. Now there is not much sitting and holding... just a tiny little bit of sitting and a whole lot of chasing. I guess this is what I can expect my dinner outings to be like for a very long time. Oh well. Either way, lady pizza time was great and Marlowe was most definitely (and obviously) adorable! You will find very few photos of friends and one too many photos of Marlowe on this post! You've been warned! :)

A Few Things (Guest Post, Diet Water, Marlowe's Father, Goodbye, Question)

First of all, I wrote a little guest posty post over at the Barley & Birch blog. If you're interested I suggest you check it out! :) Just some ramblings about my thoughts on the lovely and advanced Marlowe standing.

Second, have you heard about all the awesome things Barley & Birch are doing over in Haiti? No? Then go check it out. Seriously, it's friggen amazing. I love Kyle, she really is doing some awesome things for our world. &She in the middle of her last and final round of finals EVER. Wish her some major luck (not that she'll need it) and send some good positive vibes her way! :)

Diet Water

For tomorrow's *Diet Water* we will be doing something a little new.... having recipe guest post! It's a delicious one too. As soon as I make my next trip to Whole Foods I will be trying this one out myself for sure.... but even without trying it you can tell it's going to be amazingly delicious. We wont have guest posters on a regular basis... but if you do have a recipe you'd like to share with the readers of ohdeardrea, contact me &we can make something happen :) The only catch: It must be vegan-friendly or easily veganized :)

The following week you can look forward to a HUGE picture post (and recipes/words too) with tons of meals prepared throughout the week. Next time/one time I would like to document every meal and do a post like this more frequently.

Marlowe's Father

I know it's only Thursday, but I hope everyone's got some awesome weekend plans. I am not exactly looking forward to this one. Marlowe's father will be in town again. &even though the last time he was here it went really well.... this time around the tensions are a bit high, the trust is a bit low, and mediation is Monday. Eeek. I'm sure (I hope) everything will go fine in mediation, &I'm thinking strong happy thoughts, but if you get a chance, maybe send some positive thoughts my way on Monday <3

Goodbye To A Friend

Welp, my friend Fabian is a jerk and moves to Atlanta today. Yep, before he was just a few blocks north, and now he will be 9 hours north. But, that is life... things change, people move on, yada yada. I'm sure I'll see him sooner rather then later though... I better otherwise he is going to see some Colombian rage come out of me (*HINT*). We had a little goodbye dinner for him last saturday at pizzeria. &a little drinking gathering after, but Marlowe and I missed out on that. Here are a few pictures from pizzeria:

Oh! &A Carseat Question:

This topic came up a bit on the twitter, but I want to ask here and make it a bit more specific. I've got a small two door car (a civic) and it's about time Marlowe is fitted for a new car-seat. Do you have any recommendations? I want good quality, preferably not black, and small enough for a two door! Advice is always appreciated :)

Every single outing for pizza I tell myself I will not eat a whole pizza &I always do. Last night I ate the whole thing plus half a bread and tomato starter. As much as I talk about food and healthy eating.... I really have zero self control when it comes to good pizza. We've all got our vices. NOM.

Marlowe's PIzzeria Date (Sorta) On A Lovely Day

Yesterday was quite a lovely day! Every time my mom is in town she helps me with a major house cleaning. My mom really worked through her memories trying to figure out how she was able to have a clean house while my brother and I were babies and decided it must have been due to having my grandma around to help. It's near impossible to do a deep house cleaning with just one person and Marlowe. But with my mothers help, we alternated holding Marlowe and cleaning and I now have a very very clean house! Clean house = happy house. There's seriously nothing better. Also, I cleaned out a fair share of ratty t-shirts and dresses for a decent sized donation pile. It feels so nice.

Afterwards we met up with Mark and Nicole at Pizzeria. Which means: I've been there 3 times in the past 10 days. eeek). You would think with so many pizza outings, Marlowe would be the #1 visiting baby at pizzeria, but she might not be! There's Calvin, the cutest little baby with a mohawk. He's just two weeks (or so) older than Miss Marlowe and he's a total stud. We've run into him twice this week. I spy future boyfriend: older, mohawk, well behaved, great taste in food, and home brewing parents. Obviously he's a winner.

After pizzeria, Eric brought my trike over from my brothers (which he had cleaned and tuned up for me earlier-- so sweet. Seriously, he's so too good to me) and we went on a few mile bike ride. Hopefully it preps me for later today when I will be attempting my first freak bike ride. At first I thought it was only 4 miles, then Eric said 6, then the last number he gave me was 8 miles. Eesh. I mean, I never ever work out (yes, I am skinny-fat) and I am completely out of shape, but I figure it's gotta be easier than child birth.... right? Sure.

Marlowe loves banging on tables. &my mom is looking so good, she totally doesn't look like a grandma. Good job mom.

The pockets don't line up on my shirt (it's supposed to be that way), but I am now realizing it just make's my boobs look lopsided. Not so much of a good job, shirt. Psh.

Eric popped down to surprise us! 

Not vegan friendly gelato. 

Also, a birthday package came in the mail for me! I got the best hand-drawn comic from Cassie, a painting of a duck (also from Cassie), and a crocheted pillow from Sara! So awesome. Pillow is already on the couch and the painting is already on the wall! I love them.

Other exciting things: Marlowe sits up now, by herself. Like, not just holds herself up, but can fully prop herself up into the siting position on her own. I laid her down in the crib, left the room, and went back in 3 minutes later to find her sitting up playing with her toys. I squealed so loudly with excitement! It was one of those moments where I wanted to call and text everyone I knew to let them know how excited I was (luckily for everyone I knew, I only called my mom and Eric). She then proceeded to try to pull herself up by gripping onto the side of her crib... she came close, but didn't quite make it. Soon!

This was a bit after the whole exciting incident. I apparently need to carry my camera at ALL times now... even for bathroom trips when Marlowe is in her crib. 

Also, Marlowe's Barley & Birch package is on the way! I am seriously soooo excited. Marlowe is going to be the cutest kid on the block with her awesome new shirts. No, seriously--- she's going to look adorable in them.
