look book: happy valentine's day!

I love Valentine's Day for many reasons. The main colors are red and pink {my favorites!}, chocolate and candy are the traditional gifts {my ultimate favorites!}, and most of all because it's about celebrating love! Love for family, friends, furry friends, or a special someone. Make sure to give hugs, kisses, high fives and handshakes today!

This is kind of a strange Valentine's Day because Matthew and I aren't celebrating it together. If you read my post last week, or are following me on Twitter, you know that I'm in Las Vegas for work. Not the most romantic city, I have to say! I'm sad to be missing our first married couple Valentine's Day, but I'm glad it's not our anniversary. I'm getting in tomorrow evening so we're going to have a belated celebration! I'm thinking Italian food and chocolate--there's nothing better!

Happy Valentine's Day!

look book: funny valentine

Last night was such a comedy of errors. Poor Matthew has  had it up to here {imagine my hands really high} with his terrible commute. He lives 20 miles from work and yet it takes him close to an hour and a half some nights. Last night it took him a little over two hours, the worst drive for him by far! We were supposed to have dinner at 7 and he didn't even get back until 8. Poor guy. We ordered pizza and it was really good, although slightly burnt {it's sad they'd allow a subpar pie to pass through on Valentine's Day of all nights}. After dinner we decided to finish Roman Holiday {we started it on Saturday night} and somehow when we sat down on the couch I elbowed Matthew in the jaw. Major ouch! While it was still a good night, it was just a bit ridiculous. I hope your Valentine's Day was a little bit more normal than ours.

So I broke my self-imposed shopping ban. I know, I know, I tried so hard but when I saw this skirt for $10 I had to get it! Especially since that morning I was going to ask my mom if she had a brown pleated skirt. Meant to be? I'd like to think so! I was tempted to get it in the black color also, but I put my foot down. I'm still trying to make more conscientious shopping decisions.

I hope you all have a really great day!

happy valentine's day!

Happy Valentine's Day! I've always loved this holiday, whether I was single or in a relationship. It's a day where you can celebrate love, whether it's for your mom, dad, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, best friend, dog or cat. I wanted to share some things I'm loving on this day of love:
the heart my mom has put up every year for as long as I can remember
my pretty bow headband from In Honor of Design
 pink OPI nails {color: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun}
last year he was my Boyfriend Valentine, this year my Fiance Valentine, next year Husband Valentine!
why hello truffles! Wanna get in my belly?
tea and homemade shortbread

Miss Ginger Bear, who is actually looking for a Valentine. I know it's last minute, but the squirrel she was dating ran away. Ginger enjoys long walks, fresh bisquits, and tummy rubs. If you know anyone interested in a furry Valentine let me know :)

Happy Valentine's Day wonderful people!

valentine's day inspiration

So I think there are two types of people: those that love Valentine's Day and those who hate it. I hope everyone loves it at some point though because if you get around the idea that you have to be with someone it can be really special! I remember loving this "holiday" ever since I was in elementary school. I loved making those paper bag mailboxes and leaving little "love notes" in classmates' bags. Even when I haven't been in a relationship my family has always used it as an excuse to celebrate our love for each other. We make cookies, write cards and I think it's pretty cute. Matthew and I are celebrating this year by going up to San Francisco and while we said no big gifts, I want to make him a little something..or at least decorate! And when I need a little inspiration who did I turn to? The mother of all crafting..Martha Stewart!

From top to bottom: Crayon Hearts, Bonbon-Filled Hearts, Handmade Heart Doilies, Heart Shaped Tea Bags, Lacy Votive Holder, King/Queen of Hearts Card, Quiling Stationary, Seed Starter Valentines

I love so many of these! But finding the time might be tricky. My grandma came in town Monday from the East Coast and my mom and I are going to Santa Barbara with her tomorrow and then Friday Matthew and I are heading up to the Bay Area. So much to do in so little time!

This may be my Friday so if I don't post until next week
Happy Valentine's Day!
