look book: bright eyes

This striped dress is one of my favorites! The colors perfectly contrast and matching it with anything in my closet is ridiculously easy. Sometimes I wish I had a blazer in every color because it's really the easiest addition to make an outfit instantly work-appropriate or more professional. Also you can't beat them with jeans and a plain t-shirt.

Tomorrow night I'm going to see The Hunger Games after work and I can't wait! I finally got around to reading the book when I went to Chicago last week and I fell in love. Have any of you seen it/read it? What did you think?

look book: laid back daze

This Saturday threatened rain all day so I had to dress comfy in lots of layers. Luckily Matthew and I didn't get caught in the rain until 5 minutes after these photos were taken. My blue suede shoes might not have been the best choice but they survived! Thank goodness!

This weekend was really nice. Saturday was busy with errands around town and Sunday was spent helping my friend Eden prepare for her baby shower next weekend! She's the first of my friends to have a baby and I couldn't be more excited!! I thought about tricking you all with an April Fools Joke on a related topic but I just couldn't do it :) Although I did get my parents for a good 3 seconds! haha

look book: purple class

This purple high-waisted pencil skirt is one of my favorite thrifting finds as of late. It was $5 and fits me perfectly. {Sometimes it can be next to impossible to find an item that doesn't need to be altered}. This pencil-cut style is so polished and reminds me how much I love classic silhouettes.  To make it a little more modern and youthful I decided a sparkly tee would be good touch!

look book: spot dot

I love this dress with its black not-quite polka dot, and not quite animal spot print. Blacks and browns are two easy colors and when paired together I love how classic they look. Pairing a pop of color plays it back down to give a fun, laid-back vibe.

This weekend flew by, but with only one day it was understandable. All the things I wanted to get down Saturday got pushed to the back burner and I gave into a lazy day. Sunday was a travel day and I flew into Chicago for work. I'm only here for 2 short days but I'm already wishing for more time. This city is beautiful and I think we'd get along just right!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

look book: ballerina off duty

This outfit reminds me of something a ballerina would wear after a big show- tights, boots, a comfy sweater and hair still up in a bun. When I was little I wanted to be a ballerina {like Angelina Ballerina}, and I adopted her, 'why walk when I can dance," attitude. Today it was just make believe, but the crazy wind did convince me to make a couple twirls!

I hope you all had a great weekend and a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

look book: pants party

The other weekend I popped into Anthropologie to check out their sale section {since that's about all I can afford in that store} and stumbled upon a dress and a pair of pants in this fun floral print. Most of the time I would say I stick pretty safe with my style. Bold party pants aren't something I would necessary say are my thing. But, nevertheless, I entertained the idea with a Twitter vote. The dress was chosen as the lucky winner, however, 2 hours later I went back for the pants. haha! What can I say, they spoke to me. And yes I'm easily persuaded!

look book: sidewalk sunset

I'm pretty much head over heels in love with this Brahmin bag. Slightly kidding of course, since it's just a bag, but what a beautiful bag it is! A top handle, polka dotted satchel with tassels. Sigh..I'm still drooling!

I'm one of those weird people who likes to savor new things by keeping them in the box for as long as possible. For me to wear or use something Day 1 of getting it is kind of a big deal. That's how I know this bag is just that, a big deal. I'll try my hardest to not wear it all the time but let's just say I warned you :)

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

look book: mustard meets dots

This outfit is perfect for transitioning from work to a dinner date. The spots add personality and I think the mustard color compliments it really well. I've also been loving the re-emergence of the pointy toe heel. I don't really know how or why this style got pushed to the back burner in the first place because pointy toes are such a classic, lady-like look {and it makes everyone's legs look that much longer!}.

What do you think about pointy toe heels? Love, Hate or Indifferent?
Are there any other trends you're excited about for Spring?
