day trip to santa ynez

One thing I love about living in Los Angeles is how close we are to so many great cities and towns. Two hours from San Diego and two hours from Santa Barbara is not bad at all! The other weekend Matthew and I decided to go on a little day trip to Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez with our friends Eden and Zan {who we love soo much!}. We had the best time going to some wineries and exploring the cute little towns. We also had the best dinner ever at Eden's favorite place American Flatbread. She's been telling me about it since last year so I was so happy to finally check it out. They have the best pizza ever!! They source the freshest ingredients and it's made in a wood fire oven. Delicious! Here are some photos from our little getaway.

a labor day picnic

Matthew and I celebrated Labor Day by relaxing in the ultimate way..with a picnic! I honestly haven't done it in years and it was probably the perfect day for it. It wasn't too hot and it wasn't too cold..as Goldilocks once said "it was juust right!" We laid out on our blanket, read books, played guitar, ate Thin Mints and Pirate's Booty, and took a million pictures of our regal princess Ginger Bear.

Somewhat related side note: Today marks our two and a half year anniversary!! It almost seems like just yesterday that we met, but it also feels like years and years ago. It's definitely an exciting time and I'm so looking forward to everything we have ahead of us!

cupcake+coffee+lunch date+matthew=happy

What a great day! And it's only 2:30! Matthew drove down yesterday. Unfortunately his little car blew out a tire which caused significant delays. We think Rolfe is acting up because he's aware of Matthew's current search for a cheaper replacement. Nevertheless, he made it! Today we went to Father Nature near work for lunch and had a vegetarian falafal wrap. It was pretty good, not as good as the one in Paris though! ((sigh) I want to go back there) Matthew also surprised me with an iced coffee and cupcakes from the nearby bakery. sweet and delicious!

Tonight we're going to the Dodger's game (vs. the Cubs). We're not huge baseball fans but my friend Mal got us tickets from her work. And I think the seats are good + there's free parking (it's ridiculously overpriced). So that should be fun! Oh and maybe sushi for dinner! I'm excited! (can you tell?)
